  My Father, the Rev. R. S. Porter, pastured this church from 1959 to 1974. I have spent a many days there. I miss the members very much.

  It's a place mainly as any other...the Lord's house plus friendliness of all towards you.It makes you just return sometimes.

  I grew up across the street from First Union, and attended kindergarten here. Never realized I was growing up where history was being made!
